Artist's Statement

My purpose in art is to have other people see my work and feel that they are not alone. My subjects and concepts are not primarily focused on the struggle of growth, or the aftermath of it, but rather, the bittersweet feelings in between. I want to express the human experience, we are not one side nor the other of spectrums, but rather in between, a combination of it all. The work I do exists to be pondered at with a sense of wonder and familiarity. It is a vulnerable practice as I am forced to look internally to face myself in order to authentically express it through my work. However, what keeps me driven is knowing that through this expression of vulnerability, others can feel safe knowing that they are never alone and that this human experience is a collective one.
